The Life is Game – Experience Conference Not Only for Educators
TANDEM's annual conference was first organised in 2019 to celebrate the organisation’s 10th anniversary, with the aim of creating an inspiring, professionally high-quality and personally supportive event for all those who had been part of our journey.
Due to its success, the conference has become a tradition, taking place every November — including online editions during the pandemic years. Today, it is a two-day event welcoming nearly 200 professionals each year, including teachers, youth workers, psychologists, mental health experts, education researchers, and increasingly, parents who wish to prepare more consciously for the challenges of raising children.
The conference offers five parallel sessions over two days, allowing participants to tailor their experience based on their interests. Each year, the programme includes research-based presentations, interactive methodological workshops, and small-group experiential sessions focusing on mental health and wellbeing. Artistic side events, such as theatre performances, complement the programme, and plenty of space is provided for informal networking, peer connection, and community building.
The content is renewed annually, but some key topics are consistently included based on participant demand. These include play-based learning, mental health, internet safety, parent-child relationships, conflict and stress management, and the prevention of (online) bullying. The programme is designed to be relevant to a wide range of school subjects — from music and movement to literature, biology, and IT — offering valuable insights especially for class teachers.
The event is widely recognised by both participants and speakers as a unique brand, distinguished by its core values of quality time, supportive community, humanity, joy, and an empowering atmosphere — making it one of a kind in the Hungarian-speaking educational landscape of Slovakia and beyond.
